Challenge
Booz Allen Hamilton is a leading global strategy and technology consulting firm based in
Washington, D.C. The company was seeking to build its brand awareness in the D.C. area as
well as across the nation, and to be recognized for its charitable giving practices.
Our Solution
Booz Allen became the title sponsor of the Kemper Open, which was moved to Washington D.C.
and became the Booz Allen Classic. We resolved to make the Booz Allen Classic a top-tier PGA
TOUR event, and did so by overseeing the local tournament advisory board; managing air time
and negotiating PGA TOUR TV contracts; acquiring, assigning and managing more than 1200
volunteers; interfacing with TOUR and touring professionals; selling sponsorship inventory;
staging all events including sponsor hospitality; and overseeing all media and community
relations operations.
Results
Booz Allen and golf proved to be a successful partnership. Substantial revenues were raised,
enabling the company to give away $1.25 million in charitable donations to the newly established
Washington Golf Charities. Media impressions totaled nearly 590 million.
